Description:

The Sound of Color is a musical interface wherein four octaves of the C major scale & all the chromatic notes inbetween are represented by arrays of color palettes. The "Major Notes" are presented first and can be used in almost any order without clashing because they are all 'good' notes when used together. Below that are the "Chromatic Notes", which are all the other notes between those in the C major scale. Although these notes sound good when used together they will mostly clash with the other colorful notes; but sometimes just that half step up or down is all that's missing in a perfect melody.


How it works:

  • • Different notes = Different colors (stacked vertically)

  • • Different octaves of same note = Different shades of like color (lighter color – higher note / darker color – lower note).

  • • Chromatic notes (or notes between the colorful notes) = Gray scale blocks outlined in black (example: black color tile numbered 1.5 is the note between the darkest red #1 and darkest orange #2 tiles - hence its number being 1.5)

  • • All the notes can be moved around individually on screen → Just cllick and drag to rearrange notes however you like.
